Lauro Ristorante is a classic Italian fine dining restaurant in South Tampa.

At Lauro, you can enjoy many Italian favorites from homemade gnocchi to penne ala vodka. They have a full liquor bar, and a moderately extensive wine list.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures, the lighting was perfect for a romantic dinner, not for an undercover foodie.

The smoked salmon appetizer was served with extra large capers, onions, and toast. Not many restaurants actually use the extra large capers, but Lauro knows they make for the best flavor. The presentation was perfect, and the flavor was even better.

The medium rare rack of lamb was served with fresh vegetables & a potato croquette. The lamb was encrusted with bread crumbs, and a mustard sauce. The flavor was spot on, but the presentation could have been a little better.

The dover sole was de-boned table side. The server knew exactly what he was doing, and it was a nice show. The final result was my dover sole topped off with capers, and a lemon butter sauce. It was amazing!

The chocolate cake was clearly home made, and very rich.

The tiramisu was very good, and fresh tasting.

If you are in the mood for authentic Italian fine dining, Lauro is the perfect choice.
